Der Balaton ist ein wunderschöner See.  

Der größte in Europa.  

Und die Ungarn sind auch sehr freundlich. 

Ja, ich weiß.  

Lass uns nach St. Gilgen fahren.  

Wandern und sehr gutes Essen.

Time to light candles.  My wife and I are planning our holiday.  Shall we fly to the sun?  Shall we travel to the north?  Will it be hotter than this year? How much will a good holiday cost?  Maybe a cruise?  A holiday in France.  The best food in the world.  We could drive down to Italy. Pasta and tomatoes and pasta and tomatoes!  Nothing special. A holiday in Hungary?  Balaton is a beautiful lake.  The biggest in Europe.  The Hungarians are friendly as well. I know!  Let's go to St. Gilgen.  Hiking and very good food.  What could be better?

Heute Morgen ist es sehr neblig.  

Der Wetterfrosch hat gesagt, dass es sich bis zum Mittag auflösen wird. 

Soll ich ihm glauben?   

Ich gehe heute Nachmittag nach Schönbrunn. 

Ein wunderbarer Tiergarten.  

Gregors bester Freund ist der Chef des Zoos.  

Gregors Frau hat einen sehr guten Job im Zoo.  

In der Gorilla-Abteilung. 

Gregors Frau fängt jeden Morgen um 7 Uhr an zu arbeiten. 

Sie muss ein Gorillakostüm anziehen.  

Sie muss in einem Käfig sitzen und den Leuten zuwinken.  

Ein interessanter Job. 

Manchmal auch ein bisschen langweilig.  

Immer das Gleiche. 

Aber das Geld ist okay. 

Gregors Frau ist ein natürlicher Gorilla!

A wonderful zoo.  Gregor's best friend is the boss of the zoo.  Gregor's wife has a very good job at the zoo.  In the gorilla department. Gregor's wife starts work every morning at 7.  She has to put on a gorilla costume.  She has to sit in a cage and wave at the people.  An interesting job. Sometimes a little bit boring.  Always the same. But, the money's OK. Gregor's wife is a natural gorilla!

Heute ist Sonntag, der 9. Oktober.  

Ein Moment der Geschichte.  

Österreich wählt wieder. 

Wer wird der nächste Präsident von Österreich?  

Gregors Frau kam aus dem Wahllokal nach Hause.  

Sie war aufgeregt.  

Es gab keinen Kandidaten für die Gin & Tonic Partei!  

Gregors Frau hat für den kommunistischen Kandidaten gestimmt. 

Alles ist besser als Bier!  

Diese Woche war auch eine große Woche für die österreichische Wissenschaft.  

Ein Nobel  Friedenspreis für die Physik.  

Anton Zeilinger. 

Ein wunderbarer Mann.  

Gregor ist sehr aufgeregt.  

Seine Frau auf den Mars zu beamen.

Today is Sunday, 9 October.  A moment in history.  Austria is voting again. Who will be the next President of Austria?  Gregor's wife came home from the polling station.  She was excited.  There was no candidate for the Gin & Tonic Party!  Gregor's wife voted for the communist candidate. Anything is better than beer!  This week was also a big week for Austrian science.  A noble peace prize for physics.  Anton Zeilinger. A wonderful man.  Gregor is very excited.  He beams his wife to Mars. A wonderful thought!

 

Sunday the 2nd of October, 2022

Maxi and his friends after arriving in Vienna from Innsbruck

Die lange Nacht der Museen war gestern Abend.  

Maxi kam um kurz nach 2 Uhr nach Hause. 

Er und seine Freunde hatten einen wunderbaren Abend gehabt.  

Insgesamt 5 Museen.  

Ihr erster Anlaufpunkt war das Hutmuseum.  

Das fanden sie sehr interessant. 

Das Hutmuseum ist ein Teil des Piaristenkellers in der Josef Stadt.  

Wiens 8. Bezirk. 

Das Hutmuseum ist toll, wenn man Hüte liebt.  

Alte Hüte und neue Hüte.  

Das Geldmuseum war das nächste.  

Ein Teil der Nationalbank. 

Eine Fahrt mit einer alten Straßenbahn war der nächste Schritt.  

Dann ein Sektmuseum. 

Es gab viel zu trinken. 

Maxi und seine Freunde fanden das Wiesenthal-Museum ein bisschen langweilig.  

Ein Tisch mit nur 2 Büchern.  

Zum Abschluss gingen die Freunde zu McDonald's.  

Ein Cheeseburger zum Ausklang des Abends.

The long night of the museums was last night.  Maxi got home at just after 2. He and his friends had had a wonderful evening.  All together 8 museums.  Their first port of call was the hat museum.  This  they found very interesting. The hat museum is part of the Piaristenkeller in the Josef Stadt.  Vienna's 8th district. The hat museums is great if one loves hats.  Old hats and new hats.  The money museum was next.  Part of the national bank. A ride on an old tram was next.  Then a Sekt museum. Plenty to drink. Maxi and his friends found the Wiesenthal museum just a little boring.  A table with only 2 books.  To finish with, the friends went to McDonald's.  A cheese burger to wind up the evening.
