It's twenty past five. It's already light. It's a very chilly morning. I don't have to get up. During the week, I get up every day at 6. But, today is Saturday. It's the weekend. Today is going to be a nice day. We have some plans. At 11, we're meeting friends for an early lunch. We're going to the Marriot. This afternoon, we're going to the Prater. I haven't been to the Prater for years. I'm looking forward to this afternoon. Good friends and good fun.

I bumped into my brother Andy. He had just come out of the florist's. He'd bought a bunch of flowers for Sarah.
It's not Sarah's birthday until September. I'm sure he's done something stupid again. He probably has a bad conscious about something or other.
Or, maybe he was just being nice?
I don't think so, Dave. Your uncle never buys flowers for Sarah. But, you never know, maybe he's improved his ways. We'll probably find out tomorrow. He's bringing Sarah over for elevenses in the morning. Maybe, they have some interesting news.
I'm curious, Ken.
Oh, and there's one thing more, Jean. Andy hinted something about staying for lunch.
Well, if they're staying for lunch, they'll have to take pot luck. I haven't even been shopping this week, and, I don't even know what I have. I must look in the 'freezer. Maybe, I'll find something good. But, I hope they're not expecting anything too exciting. I've better things to do than cook for your brother and his wife.
Well, let's wait and see, Jean. If the worst comes to the worst, we can always offer them fish-fingers.
That's a good idea, dad. Fish fingers and chips is one of my favourite meals!

Ich habe meinem Bruder Andy zufällig begegnet. Er war gerade aus dem Blumenladen gekommen. Er hatte einen Strauß Blumen für Sarah gekauft.
Sarah hat erst im September Geburtstag. Ich bin sicher, er hat wieder etwas Dummes getan. Wahrscheinlich hat er ein schlechtes Gewissen wegen irgendetwas.
Oder war er vielleicht nur nett?
Das glaube ich nicht, Dave. Dein Onkel kauft nie Blumen für Sarah. Aber man weiß ja nie, vielleicht hat er sich inzwischen gebessert. Das werden wir wohl morgen herausfinden. Er bringt Sarah morgen früh zum Elevenses mit. Vielleicht haben sie interessante Neuigkeiten.
Ich bin neugierig, Ken.
Oh, und da ist noch etwas, Jean. Andy hat erwähnt, dass sie zum Mittagessen bleiben wollen.
Nun, wenn sie zum Mittagessen bleiben, müssen sie Glück haben. Ich war diese Woche noch nicht mal einkaufen und ich weiß nicht mal, was ich habe. Ich muss in der Tiefkühltruhe nachsehen. Vielleicht finde ich ja etwas Gutes. Aber ich hoffe, sie erwarten nichts allzu Aufregendes. Ich habe Besseres zu tun, als für deinen Bruder und seine Frau zu kochen.
Nun, warten wir es ab, Jean. Wenn es zum Schlimmsten kommt, können wir ihnen immer noch Fischstäbchen anbieten.
Das ist eine gute Idee, Dad. Fischstäbchen und Pommes sind eines meiner Lieblingsgerichte!
